LIQUID Screen Protector![]() Nano coating technology that shines and protects your portable device screen in liquid form. One simple application is claimed to repel dust and stains for up to 6 months. Among other claims by most liquid screen protector company includes:
While these are the common features, there are no further proof that it really works. We tried one of the top liquid screen protector (made in Japan) and applies it on 2 devices, the iPhone 5 (gorilla glass with oleophobic coating) and Asus Fonepad 7" 1st Generation (tempered glass with no oleophobic coating). Results: iPhone 5 - it works like charm, after applying the liquid screen protector, the screen was smooth, repel dust and stains and scratch proof using a car key Fonepad 7 - not working, while the screen looks shinier and smooth, there is no sign that it increases the protection against dust, stains and scratches Conclusion: From our test, we are not able to determine whether the liquid screen protector really works as they claimed. The gorilla glass has the basic properties of being smooth, dust and stains resistance as well as protection against scratches. With the application of the liquid sp, it remains the same effect. So, if I were to make a position on this, I would rather said, it enhanced the features of the gorilla glass. It works with any devices with gorilla glass or oleophobic coated devices, but limited features on those normal tempered glass screen. TEMPERED GLASS Screen ProtectorIt's a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the inner surfaces into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, when broken, to crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury. A tempered glass screen protector is highly demanded type of screen protector in recent days. Many has chose to use the tempered glass screen protector for a few reasons, mainly:
There are few sub types of tempered glass in the market.
Soda lime glass Most widely available in the market due to many factory around the world is offering OEM for it. You can differentiate a soda lime glass by looking at the side of the glass. You can see green or blue color on it. It's the least expensive type and many resellers are selling it in the market. However, a lot of the company/reseller took advantage of the limited knowledge of consumers by offering misleading information to them. Among those commonly found misleading information includes:
As for the MADE FROM GORILLA GLASS and ASAHI GLASS claim, with the price that they are selling, it's hard to believe its made of the 2 most reputable glass provider in the world. Ask them of the proof and none will able to provide to you. And from the packing, if it doesn't mentioned anything about Gorilla Glass or Asahi Glass, just take it as a normal soda lime glass. Gorilla Glass
Probably the best in the industry. With Corning being responsible for more than 33 brands for mobile devices screen, the corning gorilla glass is the world's most trusted protection with bulk of features and better protection. It offers more than twice the durability compare to a soda lime glass. As for their claim on superiority, this is the one that I find most impressive. With almost all the major brand in mobile devices industry using Corning Gorilla Glass as their preferred screen, I see no other reason why it's not the best in the industry. I might be wrong about their quality, but I doubt the giants such as Apple, Samsung, HTC, LG, Xiaomi and others are wrong. Now the question is, how do we differentiate between gorilla glass and soda lime glass? As mentioned earlier, on soda lime glass, you can see the green or blue color on the side. For Corning Gorilla Glass, it's clear, transparent glass on all sides. Asahi Glass Another big shot in the glass industry. Asahi is from Japan and we knows Japanese is one of the most hardworking group. We also knows Japanese companies always comes with quality product. Same goes with Asahi. In 2013, Asahi Glass Corporation (AGC) announced their Dragontail tempered glass. Said to be even stronger then the Corning gorilla glass 2, the Dragontail is one of the main competitor for Corning. Unfortunately, there aren't any news that any screen protector are made from Dragontail glass. If you come across any, do share with me, I would like to get to know more from the company. Conclusion: I hope with this lengthy article, it will helps you to know more about screen protectors. It's up to you to choose on which type to apply on your phone but at least you made the right choice based on the correct information. Due to the high competition in the market, it's normal for resellers to try their best to use creative and innovative statements to convince you to buy from them. If you are not prepared, then you are the one to be blamed for being a victim. Final points to take note:
"Why do I need it?" "Do I really need one?" "Which type should I get?" "What is the differences?"

On September 9, 2015 , Apple launched the latest model of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. While it doesn't look like anything different from last year models, Apple claimed that the only thing that's changed is everything. From hardware to software. But here's some problem, while Apple managed to solve the "Bendgate" issue that hit the iPhone 6 Plus a year ago with a new 7000 series aluminum, the 3D curved screen become more fragile, thus reduce the resistance against impacts. Interested to know why? Let's look into that now. In summary, with the thickness of only 0.44mm on the curved edges of the new iPhone 6S, it's not going to surprised anyone if it's more fragile. And since phones tend to land screen down when we drop them (it's a fact proven mathematically by Robert Matthews, a physicist and professor at UK’s Aston University), the thin glass are at high risk of breaking. Some of you might said that the Corning Gorilla Glass are the toughest glass in the market, but a glass is still glass, and it's proven that a thin Corning Gorilla Glass could not survive the drop, especially if no casing/cover being used. Besides the thin glass, in order to increase the aesthetic of the phone, Apple has decided to use a 3D glass instead of the 2D glass used on the older iPhone models. For the older models, the risk of breaking the screen is lower because of the side aluminium frame. Now, instead of using a harder aluminium on the side, partial of the side consist of the 3D curved glass and this significantly increases the risk of breaking the screen when we drop the phone. So that's the reason why the new iPhone 6S are at higher risk of breaking the screen. A thin glass and an awesome 3D curved edges of the glass. Therefore, we strongly suggest that the users for iPhone 6/6S and iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus to use a case whenever possible and to use a high quality full coverage screen protectors. It might be an expensive investment on the two accessories, considering the amount of money paid for the phone but trust me, the amount of money you going to spend to replace a damaged screen is even higher. At Connect2U, we strongly recommend the use of imos 3D Corning Glass Screen Protector which is arguably the best glass screen protector in the region.
